ITF chief hopes for Davis Cup-ATP Cup agreement by June - Reuters

MELBOURNE (Reuters) - Tennis chiefs are committed to merging the Davis Cup and ATP Cup into a single men’s world team event and concrete plans could be in place by June, International Tennis Federation (ITF) President David Haggerty said.

The newly revamped Davis Cup, the ITF’s flagship men’s event, took place at the end of last year and was followed just six weeks later by the inaugural ATP Cup, run by the men’s tour.

But there was near consensus among leading players that it made little sense to have two men’s team competitions on the calendar.

“We are talking to the ATP, we’ve heard the players’ comments, we know that the ATP has as well,” Haggerty said in an interview at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

“It would make sense to have one event that could be the team event for the men,” he said. “We’re having discussions and we’ll see what happens.

“The vision to me seems to be having one strong event and we’re very open to that conversation.”

While Haggerty was re-elected as ITF President in September, men’s tour chief Chris Kermode - one of the driving forces behind the ATP Cup - has been ousted. He was replaced in the New Year by Italians Andrea Gaudenzi and Massimo Calvelli as chairman and chief executive respectively.

Haggerty said meetings had already taken place and the new ATP leadership was “very definitely” open about having a single annual men’s team event.

“Our goal is over the next few months that we have some serious discussions and see if there’s some alignment,” Haggerty said.

“I’d say by Roland Garros, Wimbledon, yeah, that sort of timing. A lot will depend on what it would look like, but I think that if the parties are open to looking at various possibilities, anything is possible. I’m an optimist by nature.

“We just have to have those conversations and how we work together. A lot of times, it’s not just about the money, it’s about the schedule for the players, it’s about having more of an off-season.

“Tennis is committed to having these conversations and trying to come up with the best formula.”

The new Davis Cup format was bankrolled by a $3 billion, 25-year partnership with Kosmos, the Barcelona-based investment company owned by soccer player Gerard Pique.

Both Pique and Novak Djokovic, the multiple Grand Slam champion and president of the ATP’s Player Council, have been united in saying that the two events cannot co-exist.

“Kosmos are a part of that conversation and they’re very willing to have the conversation about one team event,” the 62-year-old American said.

Haggerty said that while the ITF was “very happy” with the inaugural edition of the reworked Davis Cup in Madrid in November, there was always room for improvement.

“I think it was a good start. Not perfect, nothing is,” he said.

“I think we have a good foundation upon which to build things that we’re looking at to improve the competition, such as scheduling.”

Villa Park had seemed to shake when the goal went in, three minutes into injury time, fans leaping into one another’s arms, Aston Villa’s staff members running, in the daze that comes of delirium, up and down the touchline. The final whistle blew a moment later. The stands emptied, fans streaming onto the field, swarming their heroes, hoisting them on to their shoulders, clamoring for their jerseys.

In that moment, late on Tuesday night, it would have been difficult to convince anyone at all that the Carabao Cup — the lesser of England’s two domestic cup competitions — does not matter, that this is a tournament so unloved that the coach who has won it the past two years, and who may well win the cup again this year, would not be aggrieved if it were abolished.

That argument would have felt like willful, sneering, bourgeois contrarianism. How much it meant to Villa, one of the country’s grand old teams, that it had reached a cup final, that it would have a trip to Wembley, was self-evident. There could be only one conclusion: The Carabao Cup does matter, after all.

A few days before, we had been offered proof that the magic of the F.A. Cup is alive and well, too: Shrewsbury Town, of League One — quick reminder: League One is what England calls its third tier, a level of ridiculousness that is for some reason accepted — had come from two goals down to hold Liverpool, runaway leader of the Premier League, champion of Europe and the world, to a draw.

So much, went the argument, for those who would belittle the oldest cup competition in the world. So much for those who would talk Britain down, including Jürgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, who said in the immediate aftermath of that game that he would send out his youth team for the replay, and that he would not be present to watch it.

England — as mentioned in this newsletter a few weeks ago — frets over its cups more than any other country. Debating the future of both tournaments has become a fixture of the season in its own right; more and more time seems to be dedicated, every January, to assessing the state of both competitions.

Almost every game is treated as some sort of thaumaturgic health check: Has this one event increased or diminished the average level of Magic of the Cup? Shrewsbury holding Liverpool? Magic. A pitch invasion after a Carabao Cup semifinal? Magic. Klopp staying away from a reply? Not Magic. Swaths of empty seats on third-round weekend? Oh, no, not Magic at all.

It is an odd sort of debate, given that everyone knows the cups no longer possess the same prestige they once did (when, as previously discussed, the F.A. Cup was the only live soccer on broadcast television, giving it an outsize importance in the public consciousness).

It is often the elite — probably rightly — that are blamed for instigating that decline, though it is telling that most coaches, regardless of their team’s situation, tend to use these games as an opportunity to field youth-team and fringe players.

Ascribing guilt to the greedy Premier League titans, though, tends to frame the issue in a specific way. To most, the demise of the cups is about money. The giants disdain it because it is insufficiently lucrative. The riches on offer in the Premier League blind everyone to the fact that the game is about glory.

(Klopp and Pep Guardiola seem sincere in their belief that, to them at least, the problem is more about overworking their players, but again: The elite have gobbled up all the best players, with their money, meaning other teams are too weak to compete, even in one-off games).

That, in turn, means that the solutions on offer are, mostly, financial. Perhaps increasing the prize money would help? Perhaps abolishing replays would be acceptable, but only if the lower-league teams had a greater share of gate receipts, or took home all of the television revenue, or had greater solidarity payments from the Premier League?

All of this is true, of course, but it is not the root of the issue. No, at heart, the problem with the domestic cups — across Europe — is not money, but meaning. The F.A. Cup does not mean anything: not to players, few of whom now would remember the competition in its heyday; not to owners, who did not invest in the sport on the off-chance of a cup run; and not, most important, to fans, who have both consumed and perpetuated a dialogue for 20 years about how the Premier League is the be all and end all, the best league in the world, the only thing that matters. (The Carabao Cup, regardless of its sponsor, has never really mattered, if we are all honest.)

Soccer is not driven exclusively by money; price and value are not the same thing. The Champions League is worth less than the Premier League, but most would regard it as the grander prize. The World Cup’s prestige is not related to its prize money.

They matter because they mean something. The F.A. Cup does not matter, as much, because it is not clear what it means, not anymore. It is no longer the big day out. It does not mean a place in the Champions League. It just offers you a chance to win a competition that, people tell you, used to be a lot more important.

That is what generates that duality: of joy for Villa Park and Shrewsbury, set against empty stadiums and absent managers. It is, in part, a problem of discourse: the debate itself, the scouring of games for proof of Magic, the constant comparisons to a halcyon past — all serve to undermine the cups as they are now.

It is only, really, when we stop asking why the cups are not like they used to be, and start asking why they should be celebrated now, that perhaps they will start to mean something again.

The Best

You Cannot Win a Transfer Window …

Old Trafford stood, as one, to welcome the substitute onto the field. The sun was shining, Manchester United was cruising to victory, and now, the cherry on the cake: Radamel Falcao had stripped off his warm-ups and stood ready to make his debut for the club. The applause was deafening. You could see several people, in the stands, making the Wayne’s World “We’re Not Worthy” gesture (this, as it happens, is one of the most improbably persistent cultural memes of our time).

United’s fans had every reason to be excited by Falcao’s arrival, back in 2014. Before the knee injury that had threatened his involvement in that summer’s World Cup, the Colombian striker had been one of the most clinical finishers in Europe, first for Porto, then Atlético Madrid, and finally Monaco.

It did not work out, of course — the injury had robbed Falcao of something he never quite recovered — and now I think quite often about him, particularly when a transfer goes through and fans and commentators forget, once again, that no one player can ever really solve a team’s problems.

It is especially acute at Manchester United at this point. There has been such a clamor for new signings, for fresh blood, that it is no surprise that the arrival of Bruno Fernandes this week has been greeted as a triumph, a success in and of itself, by both fans and some inside the club. (“We have successfully completed a recruitment operation: Someone cast the medals.”)

It may well work out that way, of course, but Falcao is a reminder that nothing is decided yet. This is one of the great tricks of the media-generated transfer culture that has soccer so in its thrall: It fools you into thinking that the signing is the hard bit, where things are won and lost, and that the rest is just plug and play.

It isn’t, of course. We all know that. United knows that. All the club has done, really, is the easy bit. What follows is the real challenge, and what will tell us if Bruno’s signing is a good thing, a bad thing or an indifferent thing for Manchester United. The applause, the worship, should come at the end, not at the start.

… But You Can Lose One

This has not been a good month for Barcelona. It lost Luis Suárez to injury. It lost a manager. The new guy came in and promptly lost at Valencia, and with it, lost top place in La Liga to Real Madrid. Most troubling of all, in the last week of January, Barcelona seemed, just a little, to lose its mind.

In the space of seven days, no more, the richest club in the world — home of the greatest player in history — has: tried to sign Rodrigo Moreno from Valencia in some sort of labyrinthine swap deal; reportedly made a $90 million offer for Everton’s Richarlíson, despite already being at the very limit of its financial capacity; contemplated an offer for Chelsea’s Brazilian workhorse, Willian; and moved to sign Villarreal forward Cédric Bakambu, only to change its mind at the last minute (according to the Spanish newspaper Marca).

It is a fool’s game, predicting the end of this incarnation of Barcelona. (I know: I have done it quite a lot in the last couple of years, occasionally on purpose.) Lionel Messi alone is, ordinarily, enough to ensure that no low lasts too long; there is such underlying quality in the team that it is easy to exaggerate rumors of its demise.

This scatter-gun approach to the transfer market, though — the undignified, ill-conceived search for anyone at all to play in a forward role, the willingness to add to its already unhealthily bloated salary commitments for the sake of finding cover for Suárez for a few months — is a bright red flag.

This is not a club hierarchy that has a long-term vision. This is not a team thinking its way through problems. There is a reckoning coming for Barcelona, without major changes, way above the post of manager. Messi may be able to stave it off for a while, but even he will not protect Barcelona indefinitely.

Like most right-thinking people, Thabo Caves disagrees with me (and also Gianni Infantino). “A Pan-African league would be a disaster for African soccer. To be more specific, it would be a disaster for all the African teams not named in your last article: It would decimate domestic leagues. Just like a European Super League, Infantino’s suggestion would consolidate power and wealth in the very few, widen the gap between the rich and the poor and cause massive inequality, ultimately ruining the domestic African leagues.”

This is, of course, correct. But I do wonder whether we need to think a little more broadly if we are to find a sustainable, vaguely equitable model for soccer in the 21st century. That applies in Europe, too: It is not just something that Africa, Asia and the Americas have to think about. Our current structures belong to the 19th, and sometimes 20th, century. Updating them should not be taboo.

And an idea out of nowhere from Andre Alban. “Why can’t FIFA rearrange the geographical regions so the so-called minnows are grouped together? This way one or two of them could always have the hope of going to the big dance.” World Cup qualifying could definitely do with a shake-up, Andre, though whether this is the way to do it depends on what you want the finals to be: a celebration of the global game or a competition to find the best team on the planet.

Zaradi odstranjevanja posledic prometne nesreče na dolenjski avtocesti med priključkoma Smednik in Dobruška vas v obe smeri promet poteka samo po odstavnem pasu. Zaradi nesreče na štajerski avtocesti pa promet poteka za priključkom Domžale proti Mariboru samo po enem prometnem pasu. Nastal je daljši zastoj do razcepa Zadobrova. Potovalni čas se podaljša za eno uro.

Nastal je zastoj proti Obrežju, potovalni čas se podaljša za več kot 40 minut. Kot je videti na fotografijah, je tovornjak prebil varnostno ograjo in delno zaprl obe smeri na avtocesti.

Nesreča tudi na štajerki

Na štajerski avtocesti promet poteka za priključkom Domžale proti Mariboru samo po enem prometnem pasu. Nastal je daljši zastoj do razcepa Zadobrova. Potovalni čas se podaljša za eno uro. Na PIC opozarjajo voznike, da morajo pustiti med ustavljenima kolonama dovolj prostora za vožnjo intervencijskih vozil.

שלוש פצצות מרגמה נורו היום (שישי) משטח רצועת עזה לשטח ישראל. פצצה אחת יורטה על ידי לוחמי הגנה אווירית, ושתיים נחתו בשטח פתוח במועצה אזורית אשכול. מדובר צה"ל נמסר כי "כתוצאה מהשיגורים הופעלו התרעות ביישומון בשטחים פתוחים בלבד". זמן קצר לאחר מכן, טנק של צה"ל תקף עמדה צבאית חמאס בדרום הרצועה.

במקביל, בגבול רצועת עזה ובגדה המערבית החלו עימותים בין פלסטינים לכוחות הביטחון, ברקע תכנית השלום של הממשל האמריקני. לפי דיווחים, חייל צה"ל נפגע קל מפניו מאבן שהושלכה לעברו במהלך הפרת סדר באזור יריחו. בצה"ל בודקים את הפרטים. לפי הסהר האדום, 48 מפגינים נפצעו ברחבי הגדה.

מוקדם יותר אזרחים דיווחו על פיצוצים ועל פטריות עשן בשמיים בסמוך לגבול עזה. מהמועצה האזורית אשכול נמסר כי "הופעלו התרעות באפליקציית פיקוד העורף במספר ישובים במועצה ונשמעו פיצוצים במרחב. לא הופעלו התרעות בתוך ישובים".

בתוך כך, אמה של התינוקת בת השלושה שבועות, שנפצעה אתמול באורח בינוני בשדרות לאחר שהחליקה עמה בדרך למרחב המוגן, סיפרה כי עבור התינוקת זה היה הצבע האדום הראשון. "יש לנו שלושה ילדים ולא ידעתי את מי לקחת קודם", סיפרה. "הרמתי את התינוקת שהיא בת שלושה שבועות ועל הדרך הערתי גם את הבן הבכור שלי. ואז התחלנו לרוץ, בעלי עם הילדה, הבן שלי רץ לבד ואני עם התינוקת. לקראת סוף המדרגות החלקתי כשהילדה בידיים שלי. הצלחתי לתפוס אותה, היא לא נשמטה לי מהידיים אבל קיבלנו מכה בראש מהמדרגה. הנחתי אותה בעגלה".

לדברי האם, לאחר המקרה הייתה מבולבלת ומעורפלת. "ממש פחדתי על הילדה כי שמעתי שהיא קיבלה מכה חזקה וזאת מדרגת בטון ואמרתי לבעלי להזמין אמבולנס. בסורוקה הכניסו אותה לחדר טראומה והתברר שהיא סובלת משבר בגולגולת אבל היא תהיה בסדר. היום כבר ראו שאין שינוי לרעה וזה טוב. המזל הגדול שהיא לא תזכור מזה כלום".

צוותי מד"א שהגיעו למקום פינו את האם והתינוקת לבית החולים סורוקה בבאר שבע, שהודיע הבוקר כי חל שיפור במצבה והוא מוגדר יציב. "כשהגענו למקום, ראינו תינוקת כבת שלושה שבועות בזרועות אביה, היא הייתה בהכרה מעורפלת וסבלה מחבלת ראש", סיפרו הפארמדיקים של מד"א, נתנאל יאמין ואלכס שמיס.

"בסמוך הייתה האמא כבת 30 בהכרה מלאה וסבלה מחבלות יבשות, הענקנו להן טיפול רפואי ופינינו אותן בדחיפות לבית החולים כשמצבה של התינוקת בינוני עד קשה והאמא במצב קל. סיפרו לנו שהם נפלו במדרגות הבית כשרצו למרחב המוגן בזמן האזעקה", הוסיפו.

מתיחות ברקע עסקת המאה

התרעת צבע אדום הושמעה אתמול בשדרות לאחר שזוהו שלושה שיגורים משטח רצועת עזה לשטח ישראל, כששני שיגורים יורטו על ידי לוחמי ההגנה האווירית. בתגובה לכך, כלי טיס ומטוסי קרב של צה"ל תקפו במהלך הלילה שורה רחבה של יעדי טרור של חמאס בדרום רצועת עזה.

בהודעה דובר צה"ל נמסר כי הותקף אתר תת-קרקעי ליצור אמצעי לחימה וכי מדובר במטרות שתקיפתן מהווה פגיעה ביכולת ההתעצמות של חמאס. "התקיפה בוצעה בתגובה לירי הרקטות לעבר שטח ישראל ובלוני הנפץ שהופרחו מרצועת עזה לעבר שטח ישראל היום, וכן בתגובה לירי הצליפה שבוצע לעבר תורן תצפית של צה"ל.

V 98. letu starosti je umrl Janez Stanovnik, nekdanji predsednik Zveze združenj borcev za vrednote narodnoosvobodilnega boja Slovenije (ZZB NOB). V letih od 1984 do 1988 je bil član predsedstva SR Slovenije, od 1988 do 1990 pa predsednik predsedstva SR Slovenije.

V 98. letu starosti je umrl Janez Stanovnik, slovenski politik in dolgoletni predsednik ZZB NOB.

Janez Stanovnik je nosilec partizanske spomenice 1941. Po drugi svetovni vojni je delal v zvezni vladi, jugoslovanski diplomaciji in Združenih narodih. Krajši čas je bil tudi dekan ekonomske fakultete. Po službi v Združenih narodih se je sredi osemdesetih let vrnil v Slovenijo.

Stanovnik je v svojem življenju dobil tudi več odlikovanj ter postal častni meščan Ljubljane.

　中国・武漢市を中心に新型コロナウイルスによる肺炎の感染が拡大している問題で、厚生労働省は３１日、武漢市から３０日に政府のチャーター便で帰国した邦人２１０人のうち、症状のない３０歳代男性と５０歳代の男性について、新型コロナウイルスの陽性反応が出たと発表した。

Predsednik SMC se je sestal z Marjanom Šarcem, po srečanju pa je Počivalšek dejal, da se njuni pogledi na izhod iz trenutne situacije nekoliko razlikujejo. Predsednik Pahor pa meni, da Slovenija potrebuje novo vlado, ki ima "prepričljivo politično večino in prepričljiv program svojega dela".

Ko je premier Marjan Šarec v ponedeljek nenadoma odstopil, se je pojavilo vprašanje - nove predčasne volitve ali oblikovanje nove koalicije znotraj obstoječe sestave državnega zbora. Šarec je že ob odstopu ponudil sodelovanje stranki SMC. Danes sta se tako sestala s predsednikom stranke Zdravkom Počivalškom. Ta je po srečanju dejal, da sta s Šarcem "naredila oceno stanja trenutne situacije in izmenjala mnenja. Najini pogledi na izhod iz trenutne situacije se nekoliko razlikujejo, vendar o tem ne želim govoriti več, kot sem javno že povedal."

Dogovorila sta se, da se bodo pogovori na ravni vodij poslanskih skupin nadaljevali prihodnji teden, ko"bosta ocenila, kakšne so možnosti nadaljnjega sodelovanja".

Večina strank se sicer pripravlja na predčasne volitve, a pogovorov ne izključujejo. Da so najbolj naklonjeni volitvam, je sprva dejal tudi predsednik SDS, a so se zatem kmalu začeli neformalni pogovori o možnosti oblikovanja nove vlade med SDS, NSi in SMC.

Da "ne bo točil solz, če bo SMC bolj dišala desna vlada", je v intervjuju za tednik Mladina dejal Šarec.

Pahor: Slovenija potrebuje novo vlado s prepričljivim programom

Padec Šarčeve vlade in morebitne nove volitve je danes komentiral tudi predsednik Borut Pahor. In na Twitterju zapisal, da Slovenija "v vsakem primeru, s predčasnimi volitvami ali brez njih, zdaj potrebuje novo vlado, ki ima prepričljivo politično večino in prepričljiv program svojega dela".

Po njegovem mnenju bo, še zlastio v primeru, da pride do oblikovanja nove vlade, pomemben program njenega dela. "S tem bo dala vlada javnosti jasen signal, da so koalicijske stranke skupaj v vladi zato, da uveljavijo skupen program in ne zato, ker jih je strah predčasnih volitev."

Umrl je Janez Stanovnik, nekdanji predsednik zveze borcev - Svet24.si

V častitljivi starosti 97 let je preminil nekdanji predsednik Zveze združenj borcev za vrednote NOB Slovenije (ZZB NOB) Janez Stanovnik, s partizanskim imenom Tine.

Stanovnik se je rodil 4. avgusta 1922 v Ljubljani, kot drugi od sedmih otrok pravnika in politika Ivana Stanovnika in mame Ane.

Med drugo svetovno vojno se je Stanovnik hitro vključil v Osvobodilno fronto. Jeseni leta 1941 so ga aretirale italijanske okupacijske oblasti in ga izpustile leto kasneje. Po izpustitvi se je nemudoma pridružil partizanom.

Po vojni je Stanovnik študiral pravo, mednarodne odnose in ekonomijo. Leta 1952 je bil imenovan za ekonomskega svetnika Jugoslavije na sedežu Združenih narodov, kjer je s kratko prekinitvijo, ko je v Ljubljani poučeval na Ekonomski fakulteti, ostal vse do leta 1982.

Med letoma 1984 in 1988 je bil član predsedstva Socialistične republike Slovenije (SRS), leta 1988 pa je postal predsednik predsedstva SRS.

Med letoma 2003 in 2013 je vodil ZZB NOB.

Bil je nosilec mnogih odlikovanj, med drugimi tudi prvoborske Partizanske spomenice 1941.

Šarec: Ni ravno čas, da bi sosedje odpirali šampanjce - Delo

Sodišče EU ni pristojno za odločanje o mejnem sporu med Slovenijo in Hrvaško. Opozarja pa, da sta državi skladno s pogodbo o EU zavezani, da si prizadevata za vzpostavitev dokončne pravne rešitve tega spora v skladu z mednarodnim pravom.

Na odločitev se je popoldne odzval premier v odstopu Marjan Šarec. Kot poroča STA, je ob robu današnjega sprejema za diplomatski zbor na Brdu pri Kranju glede današnje odločitve Sodišča EU, da ni pristojno v primeru slovenske tožbe proti Hrvaški, povedal, da »ni ravno čas, da bi sosedje odpirali šampanjce«. Kot je poudaril, bodo morali prej ali slej spoznati, da je arbitražna sodba veljavna, in tudi današnja sodba je poudarila pomen spoštovanja mednarodnega prava.

Pojasnil je, da je sodba povedala le, da sodišče ni pristojno odločati v tožbi, ki jo je Slovenija proti Hrvaški vložila zaradi nespoštovanja evropskega prava v povezavi z uresničevanjem arbitražne razsodbe. »Je pa zato drugje jasno zapisano, da je arbitraža veljavna in da je treba spoštovati mednarodno pravo. Tako da tukaj je bitka za interpretacijo,« je poudaril Šarec.

Na novinarsko vprašanje, ali je bila vložitev tožbe morda napaka, je povedal, da je to težko soditi. »Tožbo je vložila še vlada v odhodu. Takrat je bila odločitev taka,« je dejal, a poudaril, da ni mogoče govoriti o napaki, saj »ta sodba ponovno poudarja, da je treba spoštovati mednarodno pravo«.

Cerar: Sporočilo Sodišča EU je jasno

Zunanji minister, ki opravlja tekoče posle, Miro Cerar je poudaril, da še vedno stojimo za mnenjem, da Hrvaška krši evropski pravni red, čeprav evropska institucija ne sprejema odločitve o tem. »Obžalujem, da Sodišče EU ni zbralo dovolj poguma, da bi odločilo o pomembnem pravnem vprašanju v EU.«

Odločbo še preučujejo, a kot je poudaril Cerar, se je sodišče jasno izreklo o arbitražni odločbi. »Izrecno je pritrdilo Sloveniji, da arbitražna odločba velja, kar je nam v veliko zadovoljstvo.« Sodišče EU je sporočilo, da je treba storiti vse potrebno za izvršitev arbitražne odločbe, ki je določila mejo med obema državama. »Sodišče ne bo presojalo, kar obžalujemo, a prinaša pravno spoznanje, da je arbitražna odločba zavezujoča tudi za Hrvaško in jo ta mora implementirati.« Dodal je, da sodba Sodišča EU ni pravna zmaga Hrvaške. »Vsak teden jo bomo spomnili, da mora spoštovati arbitražno razsodbo.« Ocenil je, da bi sodniki gotovo odločili, da Hrvaška krši evropski pravni red, če bi šli v vsebinsko odločanje.

Cerar je poudaril, da smo mejo uzakonili, Hrvaška pa se temu upira. »Slovenija mora biti potrpežljiva, pravo je na naši strani. Razloga za hitenje in vznemirjenje ni, moramo pa izvrševati pravni pritisk na Hrvaško.«

Cerar je poudaril, da je Slovenijo tožba zdaj stala od 300.000 do 400.000 evrov. Poudaril je, da cena ni visoka, ker so pridobili takšno mnenje Sodišča EU.

Odziv na hrvaške komentarje

Predsednik hrvaške vlade Andrej Plenković je ocenil, da je današnja odločitev Sodišča Evropske unije v Luxembourgu zmaga argumentov, ki jih je Hrvaška predstavila na sodišču.

»Kaj pa naj drugega reče? Pravne zmage Hrvaške ni. Hrvaška je lahko zadovoljna, le ker sodišče ne bo odločalo. Ker bi po moji oceni sodišče ugotovilo, da kršijo pravni red. To ni zmaga, to kaže odnos Hrvaške do vladavine prava,« se je odzval Cerar.

Pahor: Sodišče poziva obe državi

Predsednik republike Borut Pahor je na twitterju zapisal, da nam je »v skoraj tridesetih letih samostojne Slovenije uspelo s sosednjimi državami urediti tako rekoč vsa nerešena vprašanja. Rešeno je tudi vprašanje meje s Hrvaško.«

»Glede tega sosednja in prijateljska Hrvaška še ni pripravljena spoštovati sprejetih obveznosti, vendar sem prepričan, da se bo to prej ali slej zgodilo. Današnja odločitev Evropskega sodišča nič ne spreminja. Sodišče v sodbi obe državi poziva, da implementirata razsodbo,« je poudaril.

Janša: Zapravljanje denarja

Predsednik SDS Janez Janša se je na odločitev Sodišča EU, ki se je v primeru slovenske tožbe glede arbitraže izreklo za nepristojno, odzval na twitterju. »To pomeni, da je leva vlada z vašo izdatno pomočjo po nepotrebnem zapravila veliko davkoplačevalskega denarja.«

Dr. Verica Trstenjak, nekdanja generalna pravobranilka na Sodišču EU, ni presenečena nad sodbo, saj so bili sklepni predlogi pravobranilca odlično argumentirani, sodba pa temu sledi. »Slovenija je pogosto preveč poudarjala mednarodno pravo, ki v tem postopku ni bilo pomembno. Kot sem že večkrat omenila, to ne vpliva na veljavo arbitražne odločbe. Prav tako Slovenija ni konkretno pravno s to sodbo pravno nič izgubila, posledice so politične. Slovenija bo morala nadalje vztrajati pri arbitražni odločbi in iskati rešitev tudi z diplomacijo.«

Poudarila je še, da so bile to napake slovenskih vlad že zadnjih deset let. »Tako smo Hrvaški vedno dovoljevali izjeme, na primer že v sporazumu Hrvaške o pristopu k EU leta 2012 piše, da za 'področje ribištva velja izjema in se začne režim uporabljati šele, ko se začne v celoti izvajati arbitražna odločba'. To pomeni, da je Hrvaška vedno nekaj korakov naprej in je že takrat vnesla te določbe, pozneje jih je uveljavila tudi v uredbi EU o ribištvu, kjer imajo enako izjemo. Pravobranilec je vse to izrecno razdelal, sodbe še nisem videla. Slovenija se mora tudi zavedati, da je pri reševanju problemov pomembna stroka, ne levi in ne desni, ne prijatelji in ne sorodniki. To velja tudi za izbiro strokovnjakov tem postopku.«
