Middlesbrough vs. Tottenham Hotspur: FA Cup game time, TV channels, how to watch - Cartilage Free Captain

After reaching the FA Cup semifinals in both 2017 and 2018, Tottenham Hotspur unceremoniously crashed out of the competition in the Fourth Round last January against Crystal Palace. That defeat — along with a Carabao Cup semifinals loss to Chelsea — helped send Spurs on a woeful track of mediocre road performances that arguably stills continues today.

While Tottenham has picked up road victories against West Ham and Wolves over the past two months, those results have been overshadowed by a pathetic draw against Norwich and loss against Southampton in the most recent two matches. With injuries accumulating and no change in on-field performance, supporters are wondering if the team is just stuck.

Spurs will try to earn back some goodwill against Middlesbrough on Sunday as they open their 2020 FA Cup campaign. Boro sit in the bottom half of the Championship table and are big underdogs. Given manager Jose Mourinho’s past tendencies, expect Tottenham to take this competition seriously, starting with an easy (on paper, at least) Third Round tie.

Of course, there are plenty of question marks all across the roster right now. Harry Kane looks to be out for a couple months, Christian Eriksen is likely to be gone this January, Tanguy Ndombele is hurt yet again, and very few of the healthy players seem to be in form at all. Between the race for the top four, the knockout rounds of the Champions League, and now the FA Cup, there are a lot of important fixtures for Tottenham on the horizon.

Match thread rules

The match thread rules are the same as always. To any visitors coming here for the first time, welcome! We’re glad you’re here! Wipe your feet, mind the gap, and be sure to check out the other pages at this outstanding site. While you’re here, though, we have a few rules and regulations:

  • Absolutely no links to illegal streams. They’re bad and they get us in trouble. Violators will be warned or banned.
  • We have rules against “relentless negativity.” Nobody likes a Negative Nancy. Don’t knee-jerk and post outlandish or hurtful things just because you’re frustrated.
  • Along those lines, outright abuse of players or match officials is also not allowed. It’s fine to say “wow, that was a really bad call,” but it’s NOT okay to direct copious amounts of abuse in the direction of said official over a call you did not like.
  • Treat other people in the match thread the way you would want someone else to treat your grandmother. Be nice. Observe Wheaton’s Law. This is a community of fans, not an un-moderated message board.
  • NO SPIDERS!!
  • Finally, while we don’t have a rule against profanity, please try and keep the naughty words in check. Also, language that is sexist, racist, or homophobic in nature will be swiftly deleted and you will be immediately banned. This is an open, supportive community.

Have fun, and COYS!
