Zach Collaros, former UC Bearcats quarterback, leads Winnipeg Blue Bombers to Grey Cup win - The Cincinnati Enquirer

Former Cincinnati Bearcats standout Zach Collaros led the Winnipeg Blue Bombers past his former team, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, for a 33-12 Grey Cup win on Sunday night in the Canadian Football League's championship game.

Collaros completed 17 of his 23 attempts for 170 yards for the team that added him at the CFL's October trade deadline from the Toronto Argonauts and won its first Grey Cup since 1990.

In July, the Saskatchewan Roughriders traded Collaros to Toronto, where he also started his CFL career. Last season was Collaros' first with the Roughriders, but he spent the previous four seasons as the Ticats' starting quarterback and led them to a Grey Cup appearance in 2014.

Another former UC quarterback, Hayden Moore, plays for Hamilton but did not attempt a pass in the Grey Cup. Last Dec. 31, Moore led UC to a Military Bowl win against Virginia Tech - the Bearcats' first victory in a bowl game since 2012.

Among Moore's teammates playing for Hamilton in the Grey Cup was Cincinnati native and former Moeller High School standout Rico Murray, who spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals (on and off) from 2009 to 2012.

Former La Salle High School and Ohio State Buckeyes standout DeVier Posey was the MVP of the Grey Cup in 2017 for the Argonauts. He now plays for the Montreal Alouettes.
