Fall sports season complete, new leaders in MVB Cup standings - WV MetroNews - West Virginia MetroNews

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — George Washington, Fairmont Senior, Bridgeport, Doddridge County and Williamstown are posted up at the top of the 2019-2020 MVB Champions Cup standings sponsored by the WVSSAC. The fall sports season is complete following the state cheer competition on December 14.

GW surged to the top of the Class AAA boys standings with a quarterfinal finish in football. The GW ladies also vaulted into the lead after winning the state volleyball crown.

The Fairmont Senior boys and Bridgeport girls held onto the top spots in Class AA. The Williamstown girls did the same in Class A.

After finishing as the runner-up in football, Doddridge County is the new leader in the boys Class A standings.

The first championship of the winter sports season is in February when WVU hosts the state swim meet.
